In accordance with the Government announcement on the extension of the ‘state of alarm’, which will continue until Sunday 26 th April, our teaching and exams activity, along with our cultural work, will be affected as follows:

ENGLISH CLASSES / TEACHING CENTRES

All of our centres in Spain are closed at this time. Following the guidelines of the relevant authorities, and as an alternative to in-person classes, we are making our classes available online for adults, Primary and Secondary students.

For families of Early Years students we have also opened a specific section within our student portal this week, where we will offer new teaching materials every week as well as virtual storytelling workshops and support sessions to guide your children’s learning.

If you are a student, or parent of a student, please check your email regularly so that we can provide you with all the access details for our classes and learning resources online.

EXAMS

All our exams sessions in Spain have been suspended until 15th April, to be revised at the end of March. If you are a candidate or an institution which has registered candidates for our exams, we are in regular contact with you by newsletter, the next edition of which will be with you shortly.

If you are interested in taking an Aptis, Cambridge, IELTS or another exam with the British Council, please check the Exams section on this website for dates available once the state of alarm in Spain has been lifted.

CULTURAL WORK

The British Council has postponed all cultural activities, where these events include public gatherings, for the duration of the state of alarm. We are developing a number of online formats so that we can contine with our cultural programme. We will send more information via our Arts newsletter. You can register free here.

BRITISH COUNCIL SCHOOL

The British Council School (Somosaguas and El Viso) will be closed at this time. As an alternative the School has initiated a distance learning programme which includes online classes as well as a weekly schedule of tasks and activities. If you have any questions we can respond to your requests via this webpage.

LEARN ENGLISH FROM HOME – FREE RESOURCES

Through the #AprendoconBritishenCasa initiative, the British Council is providing the public (including students, parents, teachers and exams candidates) with a wide variety of resources so that they can continue learning English from home. We will update the website regularly with new content. If you prefer, you can subscribe to our weekly newsletter to receive updates on new resources.
