Based at the Escuela Infantil TEO, the Storytime! project is a story-based course designed for very young learners of English aged from 2-4 years. Appealing and age-appropriate stories, songs, dance, arts and crafts introduce children to authentic literature, and encourage them to develop aspects of language such as pronunciation, rhyme, rhythm, narrative, and sentence structure in a fun and natural way.

Each 30 minute session is designed to engage and motivate through a variety of dynamic activities, exploiting natural curiosity and a desire to learn, as well as respecting different learning styles.

THE RIGHT LEVEL FOR YOUR CHILD

We offer Storytime! at two levels: Storytime! 1 (ages 2-3 years) and Storytime! 2 (ages 3-4 years).

WHAT WILL MY CHILD GAIN FROM THIS COURSE?

Session Structure - 30 or 45 minute sessions including some or all of the following elements:

  • Welcome routine: Children start the session by greeting each other and the teacher using the welcome song and dance.
  • Song with actions: Children watch, listen and sing a nursery rhyme or other song and do the corresponding actions.
  • Storytime (including Storytime routine): Children listen to a story and participate in activities related to the story as they read together.
  • Interactive play: This part of the session is dedicated to child-initiated play, allowing the teacher to interact with the children in an informal and natural way, to provide more opportunity for individual communication.
  • Dance/movement /relaxation activity: Children use dance, movement and relaxation techniques to express themselves and learn about body parts and action words in English.
  • Good-bye routine: Children finish the session by chanting the good-bye chant to each other and the teacher.

FEEDBACK ON YOUR CHILD'S PROGRESS

At the end of each term, parents receive a summary of what the children have been working on, with a personalised text describing the experiences and progress of their child during the course.
