The British Council is pleased to announce that the Aptis ESOL Advanced exam has been officially recognised by the Junta de Andalucía as a valid qualification for teachers involved in bilingual education within the Autonomous Community of Andalusia.
This significant achievement has been formalised in the Order of 26 March 2025, published in the Boletín Oficial de la Junta de Andalucía (BOJA), which outlines the procedure for recognising levels of foreign language proficiency, as set out in current legislation for bilingual teaching staff. Aptis ESOL Advanced, in its advanced version, has been included in the official list of recognised qualifications for teachers wishing to certify their English language competence, according to the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Aptis ESOL Advanced is an innovative multilevel English language qualification designed and developed by British Council language testing experts and underpinned by the latest research in assessment methodology. Thanks to this recognition, bilingual teachers in Andalusia may now submit Aptis ESOL Advanced as part of their official accreditation — a crucial step in professional development and in enhancing bilingual education across the region.
The inclusion of Aptis ESOL Advanced in this official list not only endorses the quality and reliability of the test but also improves access to assessment tools that enable educators to demonstrate their English proficiency in a recognised and standardised manner.
This development reflects the British Council’s ongoing commitment to education and support for professionals in the education sector, by providing high-quality solutions that contribute to the development of language skills on an international level.
