Aptis ESOL is a four-skills, computer-based English test, developed by the British Council, delivered in supervised face-to-face test sessions and regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual).
The British Council is also a member, associate or part of the executive committee of relevant and high level education organisations, such as EAQUALS, EALTA, and ALTE.
Aptis ESOL is recognised as an official proof of English language proficiency by multiple public bodies in Spain, including 16 autonomous communities and the CRUE.

Aptis ESOL is available in three variants:
- Aptis ESOL General, assesses levels A1 to B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
- Aptis ESOL Advanced tests language proficiency from B1 to C2 on the CEFR.
- Aptis ESOL for Teachers with the same format as Aptis ESOL General with content adapted for the educational context. Assesses level A1 to B2 on the CEFR.
With Aptis ESOL, you receive your results by email 48 to 72 hours after taking your exam. Your Aptis ESOL certificate is sent by courier within 7 to 10 days.
