Aptis - Resultados

Aptis ESOL offers quick and accurate results, and your Aptis ESOL Certificate is dispatched within 3 working days after your test date.

How are the results presented?

The results from Aptis ESOL are presented in two ways:

  • Numerical score: A scale of 0 to 50 for each skill and a score for the Grammar and Vocabulary component.
  • CEFR level by skill: A CEFR level is allocated for each skill. Each CEFR band describes the English language competence in a specific skill and is described on the back of the certificate.
  • An overall CEFR level

If you are not happy with your Aptis ESOL result, you can request your exam to be re-marked. This service is known as an Enquiry on Results.

You can request an Enquiry on Results of your complete Aptis ESOL exam, not a single test component. up to eight weeks after the test date. The current Enquiry on Results fee is 53€.

Please note that according to the paragraph 14.2 of British Council Spain’s Terms and Conditions of the Aptis ESOL test the British Council does not allow candidates, test centres or institutions to see or review the answers of the marked Aptis ESOL tests in any instance of the marking process and/or as part or after an Enquiry into Results. This is in line of practice of other Awarding Boards and the British Council would not provide exam answers under a subject access request.

How to submit an Enquiry on Results?

You should submit your Enquiry on Results request via our online form available at the end of the section.

How does it work?

You may only ask for a re-mark of the entire exam, not a single component.
Grammar and vocabulary, reading and listening component checks are conducted automatically to ensure they have been marked accurately.
The speaking and writing components are re-marked by senior examiners.
Re-marked test results are considered final.

If your overall CEFR level increases after re-marking, you will be refunded the full Enquiry on Results fee and we will issue you with a new Aptis ESOL certificate. You will be asked to return the previous original certificate so that a new one is issued. Any costs incurred in sending this certificate, whether by post or other means, shall be borne by the candidate.

If your CEFR level remains the same or changes in a single component, but the overall CEFR level does not change, the fee will be retained, a new certificate will not be issued and you will be informed.

The outcome of the Enquiry on Results is considered final. The results from the remarking process will be available after ten working days.

If you took Aptis ESOL before the 24 April 2025, the certificate issued to you confirms the CEFR level achieved in the country you took the test. However, it does not contain the level of the qualification in England, where Ofqual is the regulator. The British Council will issue a corrected version of the certificate to those learners who request this. If you wish to receive a replacement certificate free of charge, please contact the British Council.
