Developing skills, broadening horizons and connecting students with the world

At the British Council, we collaborate with more than 40 schools and educational organisations to offer extracurricular English programmes that build confidence, broaden global awareness and develop the key skills young people need to thrive in an international environment.

A mission that goes beyond teaching English

Our work with schools is part of the British Council’s global mission: to promote peace, mutual understanding and shared prosperity by connecting people from different cultures. Collaborating with us means becoming part of an international educational community committed to intercultural awareness, access to global perspectives and preparing students for their academic and professional futures.

Our English courses for schools

We offer dynamic, high-quality English programmes taught by qualified teachers and aligned with international educational standards.

Children learn English naturally through creativity, play and storytelling, following a methodology based on the British curriculum.

Includes: building confidence from the start, support for natural pronunciation, active and hands-on learning, and an introduction to English literacy (phonics) from the age of 4.

Project-based classes that develop communication in real-life contexts and encourage independent learning.

Students expand their vocabulary and grammar in context, practise the four skills, and develop competencies such as leadership, collaboration and autonomy.

Designed to help teenagers succeed academically and prepare for the future through debates, presentations, teamwork, support in academic English and exam preparation, with a strong focus on confidence, critical thinking and creativity.

Tailored preparation courses for Cambridge English exams (B1–C2) and IELTS (from age 16) include mock exams, personalised feedback on writing, digital practice, progress reports, and intensive or short-course formats.

At all levels, students develop leadership, teamwork, critical and creative thinking, decision-making and global citizenship while exploring relevant international topics and strengthening their English.
