The British Council, the British Embassy in Spain and the festival MUTEK Barcelona are supporting the programme of events organized in Barcelona and Madrid by shesaid.so, a global independent community of women and gender minorities in the music industry, to commemorate International Women's Day on Tuesday, 8th March.
Held simultaneously at the Casa Bonay in Barcelona and the Bastardo Hostel in Madrid, the programme includes a discussion focusing on "Women Promoters" and the current role of women in the music industry in Spain. Taking part in Barcelona will be Carmen Zapata, manager of ASACC (Associació de Sales de Concerts de Catalunya) and founder of MIM; Natalia de Jesús, partner and comms director of the concert promoter Houston Party and founder of EllESmusic; Cristina Torres, promoter, producer, cultural manager and director at TEMproductions S.L and Pat Quinteiro, director of MUTEK Barcelona Festival. The discussion in Madrid features Carolina Pasero, director and programmer of the Moby Dick music venue; Maria Eguizabal, director of Vanana Records and Goldenbeat Music agency, and Paz Aparicio, director of the WiZink Center.
The evening includes performance by four of the artists who have attended the British Council’s WeAreEquals Music Academy. In Barcelona: Add9, Sunesis and OMVRA and in Madrid Fernanda Arrau.
