“Café Scientifique” provides a framework for the general public to engage in informal and accessible discussions on current scientific issues. These “cafés scientifiques” are part of a series of debates on “Sustainable Cities”, organised by the British Council and La Casa Encendida, which this year are focusing on the impact Covid-19 is having on cities.

Margarita del Val Latorre is a Spanish chemist, virologist and immunologist. She is a scientific researcher at the Severo Ochoa Molecular Biology Centre and at the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) where she investigates immune response to viral infections. She is a defender of the effectiveness of vaccines and quarantines in cases of epidemiological crises such as the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic in 2020.
