Ivor Bolton, musical director of the Teatro Real, faces the challenge of directing one of Benjamin Britten's lesser-known operas, Gloriana, commissioned for the coronation of Isabel II. The premiere will take place in Madrid on April 12. After the resounding success in the last season achieved with Billy Budd, by the same composer, the British maestro will now work with the stage director David McVicar to offer us a historical and unforgiving portrait of Queen Elizabeth I of England.
