To mark the 400th anniversary of the death of Shakespeare the British Council in Spain presents “Shakespeare’s Cuts”, a programme consisting of short films which reinterpret Shakespeare in contemporary language. It is divided in two parts:
- A series of short films produced by the British Council and the Joven Compañia, coordinated by the film director Juanma Carrillo, which are versions of Romeo & Juliet from the perspective of different cinema genres: Operación Verona (Samuel García Arroyo), Sala Mercurio. (Luis Mengo), Amor Ferus (Diego Garrido), Necios (Elvira Ruiz Zurita).
- A second series of short films, in their original versions with subtitles, produced by film directors based in the UK which reinterpret Shakespeare’s classics.
