This March, British literature will shine at Capítulo uno, the International Literature Festival at Matadero Madrid. Renowned writers Bernardine Evaristo, Irvine Welsh and Maggie O’Farrell will join in conversation with Spanish authors Mar García Puig, Patricia Gosálvez and Begoña Gómez Urzaiz on March 23rd, 25th and 26th, 2023. The events will focus on the British authors’ literary works and the themes that each one incorporates in their writing.
With its second edition, Capítulo uno aims to revindicate literature as a guide during uncertain times, especially in our current polarized world. To do so, it will dive into literary genres previously tagged as marginal, which are gaining an evident centricity, as is the case of Science Fiction or Terror.
The selection of authors in this edition has been chosen for the literary relevance that their most recent works hold. Through experimentation, genre subversion or rebelliousness, Capítulo uno will invite them to create conversations that go beyond their own discipline and give way for a space filled with diverse an unique stories.
