On 11 March we will celebrate Women's Month at the Academia de Cine de Madrid with Reclaim, Reframe, Rejoice, a British Council touring film programme presented in collaboration with Reclaim the Frame.
Reclaim The Frame is an award-winning charity that champions marginalised perspectives in cinema, and connects with audiences through community building and conversation. It strives to diversify audiences; developing safe and accessible spaces for conversation, promoting a de-patriarchal, de-centralised and de-colonised lens on the world, and advocating for social justice in all film spaces. It also works closely with film distributors to bring greater visibility and wider engagement for films by filmmakers of all marginalised genders.
The evening will begin at 18:30 h with a roundtable to get to know in depth the work done by Reclaim The Frame and highlight initiatives, both in the UK and Spain, that promote inclusive access to the film industry. Speakers include Melanie Iredale, Director of Reclaim The Frame; Guadalupe Balaguer Trelles, President of CIMA (the Association of Women Filmmakers and Audiovisual Media); and Guadalupe Arensburg, Head of Short Films at Movistar Plus+. The conversation will take place in English and will be moderated by Cristina Ward, Head of Arts at the British Council in Spain. After the discussion, six of the short films that form part of the Reclaim, Reframe, Rejoice will be screened.
Both activities will be open to the public with prior registration, which will be available from 5 March at 13:00 h on the website of the Spanish Film Academy.
