Thursday 19 January 2023 -
20:15 to 23:20
Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia

Thanks to its agreement with Versión Digital (exclusive distributor for Spain of the Royal Opera House’s cinema screenings from its London stage) and the Kinépolis (Madrid y Valencia) and Full (Barcelona) cinemas, the British Council is organising a draw of three free double tickets to see one of the Royal Opera House’s most acclaimed ballet productions this season on Thursday 19th January at 20.15h.

A modern Mexican classic of magic realism provides the basis for The Royal Ballet’s new full-length work, reuniting Artistic Associate Christopher Wheeldon with the creative team who transformed "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland" and "The Winter’s Tale" into dance, composer Joby Talbot and designer Bob Crowley.

Inspited by the novel of the same name by Laura Esquivel, the work takes us on a journey into a captivating family saga where the central character’s emotions spill out through cooking to influence everyone around her in startling and dramatic ways. In this co-production with American Ballet Theatre, Mexican conductor Alondra de la Parra acts as musical consultant for Talbot’s newly commissioned score, with Wheeldon working closely with Esquivel to reshape her richly layered story as an entertaining and engrossing new ballet.

The invitations will be available for cinemas in Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia. The deadline to enter the draw is Tuesday, 10th January at 11:59 p.m. CET. We'll get in touch with the lucky winners that week.
