The best preparation for the Cambridge English First for your child

Here at the British Council we are experts in language exams, and every year we help over two million people worldwide to certify their level of English. Our extensive experience in this field enables us to offer your child a unique perspective on how to approach the Cambridge First Certificate exam successfully and gain an internationally-recognised qualification at the B2 level. 

In our Cambridge First preparation course for young learners, we help students aged 12 to 17 to develop specific techniques for each part of the exam.

CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH FIRST

The Cambridge English First Certificate or FCE qualification, aimed at students of an Upper Intermediate level, demonstrates the linguistic abilities needed to study in an English-speaking environment at an Upper Intermediate level, communicate effectively, take notes in English or write a letter, in addition to expressing opinions or answering specific questions.

The exam consists of four papers, testing the four language skills as well as grammar and vocabulary: Reading and Use of English (1 hour 15 minutes), Writing (1 hour 20 minutes), Listening (40 minutes) and Speaking (14 minutes). Reading and Use of English counts for 40% of the total marks, while the other three papers count for 20% each.

Cambridge English First is the ideal test to help children and teenagers with an Upper Intermediate level to become more confident in taking this type of exam, while obtaining an internationally-recognised certificate of their English level.
